Terms of Service

Last updated: 11th October 2026

Introduction

Welcome to Spellcraft University ("the site", "we", "our", or "us").

These Terms of Service govern your use of the site. By registering an account or continuing to use the site, you agree to comply with these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with these Terms of Service, do not use the site.

Your use of the site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Site Rules. Please read them alongside these Terms of Service.

User Accounts

This site is intended solely for users aged 18 years or older and by registering an account, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age. Accounts found to belong to anyone under the age of 18 may be removed without notice.

To help maintain a safe and trusted community, new members are required to verify their identity and account ownership before receiving full access. Please see our Privacy Policy for more information.

You are responsible for following site rules, keeping your login details secure, and all activity carried out under your account. If you choose to provide an OOC name then this can be your name or nickname but it must not intentionally misrepresent your identity.

In Character (IC) vs Out of Character (OOC)

IC refers to actions, opinions and events performed by member-created characters. OOC refers to you as a member of our community. This community recognises the difference between IC and OOC. IC characters may disagree, argue or become rivals. However, conflict between characters must never become harassment between OOC players. Members are expected to separate IC events from OOC relationships and treat one another respectfully at all times.

Community Conduct

We are committed to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive community. We proudly welcome members of all backgrounds, including those of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions. Discrimination or harassment directed towards another member because of who they are will not be tolerated.

Mature Themes & IC Content

As an 18+ roleplay community, mature themes may naturally arise within stories. These may include difficult subjects such as grief, conflict, discrimination, trauma or other challenging experiences. However, these themes must always be handled responsibly and respectfully, with appropriate content warnings. Storylines involving these themes should be discussed with admin before they begin to ensure that they are handled thoughtfully rather than to discourage meaningful storytelling.

We reserve the right to decline or end any storyline if it is considered exploitative, unnecessarily graphic, sensationalised or causing distress within our community.

Roleplay Rules

Roleplay is collaborative storytelling and therefore rules are in place to make that storytelling fair and enjoyable for all.

The following are NOT allowed: · Godmodding: Controlling another player's character or deciding the outcome of their actions without their permission. · Powergaming: Forcing actions or outcomes upon another player's character without allowing them an opportunity to respond. · Metagaming: Using information your character would not reasonably know because you, the player, know it outside of roleplay.

AI generated content is not permitted and may be removed at the discretion of the site.

Posting in any language other than English without appropriate translation provided. The exception being Māori terminology outlined in Site Info and Lore.

Respect for Aotearoa New Zealand

This community is set in Aotearoa New Zealand and as such members are expected to engage respectfully with Aotearoa New Zealand culture and language, including Māori and other cultures represented within the setting. Mocking, stereotyping or disrespecting cultures represented on the site will not be tolerated.

User Content

You retain ownership of the content you create. By posting content on the site, you grant us permission to display, store and distribute that content solely for the operation of the site for an indefinite period.

The opinions expressed by members are their own and do not necessarily reflect the views of the site, its owners, admin or moderators.

Inactive Accounts

Accounts may periodically be marked as inactive after extended periods without use. There is no fixed timeframe for this process and members are always welcome to return.

Advertising

We are not currently offering advertising. This includes commercial promotion, referral links, affiliate links*, recruiting for unrelated websites or apps and unsolicited promotion of social media or businesses.

Moderation

The admin and moderation team may edit, remove or moderate content that breaches these Terms of Service.

We reserve the right to issue warnings to members, lock or remove content, restrict access to certain features, suspend accounts, and if necessary, permanently ban accounts. These actions may be taken where we reasonably believe they are necessary to protect the community or enforce these Terms of Service.

Availability

We aim to keep the site available at all times but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service and accept no liability for downtime caused by maintenance, technical issues or events beyond our control.

Changes to These Terms and Rules

We may update these Terms or our community rules from time to time, and the latest version will always be published on this page. Continued participation on the site after updates are published constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms of Service and rules.
