In the centuries of world history, spells have taken hundreds of thousands of different forms across historical and cultural borders. There is no specific single way to accomplish any given task, however there are certain constructions that over time have become the most common standard way to craft that spell. Additionally, researchers at the university (or particularly crafty home tinkerers) may have their own personal spell designs that, while not historically commonplace are methods they wish to make widely known.
Modern technology may be used freely throughout the world, however it would be considered by characters as another form of spellcraft. Objects such as cellphones, computers, etc. generally have to be switched on by tapping them with a wand, but can enter/exit sleep or lock mode of their own accord the same as in the real world. Household appliances such as stoves or washing machines are generally wand-activated on every use, whereas things like fridges are designed to function forever after a single activation. Just as in the real world, different brands may have different ways of doing things, so feel free to use your creativity when it comes to interacting with these objects.
RPers are encouraged to be creative and come up with your own spells in the course of your characters lives, to fulfill whatever storytelling needs you may have. Spells can be submitted to this list to be drawn from by other RPers to help keep the world consistent and inspire fun and interesting threads. When submitting a spell, please specify whether it is a commonplace way of doing things, or something new that your character has developed themselves.
